“Life is a blank canvas, and you need to

throw all the paint on it you can.” Danny Kaye

I was born and raised in Germany, in a small village surrounded by beautiful countryside. Ever since I was little, I have been fascinated by nature and have been trying to understand its principles down to the smallest levels. That’s why I pursued a career in biological science and became a researcher. On this path I ended up in sunny California with its stunning landscapes and the mighty ocean to my feet. I truly believe that science is the only way to understand the world and yet I am finding myself lost for words when trying to describe its beauty and cruelty. The difficulty of objective science to fully explain things such as creativity, human consciousness along with taste and opinions is fascinating to me. Art speaks without needing facts and it is a beautiful way of adding color to the world that I try to make sense of in black and white. I believe, the need to create is embedded in our DNA, expressing feelings and giving them a voice. With my paintings, I am trying to capture a fleeting moment, a snapshot of the ever moving and evolving nature.

Now I live happily in Encinitas, California, raising a beautiful family, still trying to understand and learn as much as I can, rediscovering things I thought I knew through the eyes of my children. And painting. Always painting.
